(NASL 2013 Fall) New York Cosmos 1v1 FC Edmonton

Sunday 20th October 2013
Hofstra University, New York   Attendance -  5,624

A 90th minute goal from Edmonton Defender David Proctor put the Cosmos celebrations on hold as the Canadian side ended the Cosmos winning streak with a last gasp equaliser, meaning Cosmos must wait at least another week before booking their place in the 2013 Soccer Bowl.

It was  frustrating match for the Cosmos, who were not at their best, frustrated for long periods by a resilient Edmonton side that allowed the Cosmos very few chances on goal.
It looked as though substitute Noselli's 78th minute strike was enough to clinch the Fall Championship, until Proctor's late intervention.
Cosmos came out strongly and Mendes shot over just 1min into the game, but Edmonton soon showed that this would not be a walkover and tested Reynish at the other end, who had to push an effort past the post.
Szetela came close to opening the scoring when he was put through by Paulo Mendes, but  Edmonton Keeper Lance Parker rushed out and forced Szetela's chip to go over the target.
Cosmos were dominating possession, but were finding it difficult to create anything of note against an organised Edmonton defence.
Senna had a deflected effort tipped over just short of the half hour mark, but there was little else created as the sides went in at half time with the game scoreless.
Cosmos did not improve in the 2nd half, and Edmonton were still creating occasional chances, and had
a chance 10mins into the half, but shot straight at Reynish.
It took the introduction of Noselli to spark life into the home side, as he immediately curled an effort wide and followed it up with more efforts on the away goal, as Cosmos were finally building up momentum.
Garrett had a long range effort tipped over at the other end, but it was Cosmos who were looking dangerous, and it was no surprise to see the visitors defence finally breeched, and it was also no surprise that the scorer was Noselli, who had caused Edmonton plenty of problems since his introduction to the game.
It was  scrappy goal with Noselli poking the ball past Parker from close range after a flick on from Dimitrov from a ball pumped into the Edmonton box.
Cosmos went in search of a second, but as the game wore on it looked like Noselli's goal would be enough.
But Edmonton had other ideas and from a corner, Proctor nipped in to head past Reynish and deflate the home crowd.
