New
York Cosmos registered their first victory in Pre Season following a 3v1 win
over Dubai side Al Wasl in their second Tour match.
Cosmos
threatened from the opening exchanges with Senna driving a 30 yard effort just
wide after 2 minutes, but it didn't take long for Senna to find the target
giving the visitors a lead on 7 minutes, scoring from a Hunter Freeman corner.
Jimmy
Maurer was called into action on 18 minutes as Al Wasl went in search of an
equaliser, with the Cosmos stopper keeping the effort out.
Stokkelien
came close to scoring his first goal for the Cosmos, just failing to get on the
end of an Ayoze header from a corner, but the New York side were made to pay
when Khatiri tapped home an equaliser, converting a cross from Argentinean
Midfielder Emmanuel Culio.
Cosmos
started the 2nd half well with Johnson sending a shot just over the bar. Cosmos
regained the lead on 64mins, and again Freeman delivered the ball, this time it
was new boy Jimmy Ockford, on loan from Seattle Sounders who opened his account
for the Cosmos, heading home.
Cosmos
continued to threaten in the latter stages with Senna's well struck shot saved
by the Keeper after being set up by substitute Dimitrov.
Cosmos
wrapped up the win on the stroke of 90mins after Paulo Mendes was upended in
the area after a through ball from Freeman.
Senna
converted the spot kick, only to receive a yellow card for a stutter in the run
up, but held his nerve to score at the second attempt.
